You saw the list of May shows coming to Detroit, right? Get rid of live music overload aka June in Metro Detroit.
Indie rock your thing? You don’t get a much better bill than Alabama Shakes with Father John Misty at Masonic. You could also check out two nights of My Morning Jacket at the Fillmore, Mumford & Sons at DTE or Best Coast at Majestic Theater. Eclectic, experimental projects more your thing? Purity Ring headlines at Royal Oak Music Theater, Hot Chip and Sinkane take over Majestic Theater and Tanlines at the Loving Touch in Ferndale. Summer also means more opportunities to see live music outdoors like Bronze Radio Return (free!) at New Center Park and the newly refurbished West Riverfront Park with Jimmy Buffett and John Fogerty.
I would tell you to head to Electric Forest to catch out big-time electronic music acts in Rothbury, but the event sold out almost instantly. Luckily, producers and DJ’s are hitting Detroit venues like Flume at Royal Oak Music Theater and Oliver at Populux.
